How can I get involved?

There are many areas to become involved in the worship ministry. Please contact Audrey Christiansen at audrey@sotdaz.org if you have an interest in any of these areas:

Creative Worship Team

Meets weekly to brainstorm creative ways to enhance the sermon message

Technical Teams

Sound Board Tech and in Visual Tech (advancement of slides during worship for  screens) teams are key elements in the worship service.  If you have experience, we would love to have you join this team.  If you have a passion for this area of the worhsip service and would like to learn, we will train you.  Just let us know if this is an interest you might have.

Screen Designers

This is a very vital part of the worship service.  Whether you have experience or not, we will train you.  If you would like to be part of the screen design team and create the screens used for our Sunday morning worship services, please let us know.

Greeters

A smiling face, handshake, just your basic warm welcome...that is all it takes. If you have an interest in helping us out in this area, we would love to speak with you.  We need greeters at all of our worship services so please let us know which service is best for you to become involved in.

Ushers

Ushers represent the church in a very visible way, and help set the tone in preparation for the worship service, as well as assist with the smooth operation within the service. Ushers are up front and ready to greet worshippers, distribute bulletins, seat late comers, assist with communion logistics and the offering. This position is of utmost importance in providing a pleasant worship experience for all.  We hope this is an area that you might get involved in.  We need multiple ushers at all of our worship services.

Lay Readers

Readers are scheduled to read selected Bible verses during worhsip services.

Altar Guild

The altar is one of the most important parts of any church service. The Altar Guild sets up and takes down communion for the designated communion services.  Responsibilities include maintaining and decorating the altar in accordance to the church calendar. Being on the Altar Guild is an important commitment, one that gives you the opportunity to be an integral part of the worship at Shepherd of the Desert.

Banners

The responsibility of the banner team is to maintain the banners that hang in the Sanctuary and change them according to the church season.  In addition, banners are made for the children's baptisms.

Church Decorating

This team offers assistance to the Altar Guild in decorating the Sanctuary for Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter.  It is a great time of fellowship and a rewarding experience to see the transformation for the seasons.

Lighting Team                                                                                                                                                                                     This team coordinates the lighting in the sanctuary for worship services and other sanctuary events.
